We went to their canteen for food. I guess it was the temperature outside that the food were mostly all cold. The rice there are sticky.
After breakfast, we got ready and went to meet our buddies for this whole 8 weeks in Dalian Polytechnic University. They are local students who study here. My buddy’s name is [Chong Jing Lang]. She studies in Management in Design. She is a very amiable and sweet lady.
We then head on for the orientation they organized for us. They brought us to their School of Design Gallery with works of graduated students. It was a very different gallery compared to those I had visited in Singapore.
It was lunch time and we went to the canteen to buy food. We were given food tickets to pay for the food. Our buddy guided us on how to do it. The food here is generally quite salty.
After lunch, we were brought around the school’s historical gallery to understand more about DPU. The school is 50 years old already!!
We then went to attend the opening ceremony of the student exchange programme between Dalian Polytechnic University and Singapore Polytechnic. We were warmly welcomed by the representatives from DPU and both sides exchanged gift to show their appreciation.
Our adventurous souls began to revel as we head on to the city name [Xing Gong Jie]. We took a 1 hour bus ride there. The bus was so packed and cold. My knees were cold and painful after standing for whole one an hour. However, was pleased to see the big mall they have there. Big mall means we can buy our necessity there. We bought quite a lot of stuff from Wal-Mart. Instant noodles, biscuits, etc. I bought a pair of shoes that can bear the cold weather and rain. We had dinner there too. We had a long day and we even ran through the busy road to catch the bus that was going off soon. We had lots of things in our hands and squeezing into the packed bus was not an easy task. I do not even need to balance myself because I was being sandwiched between my friends and I can hardly breathe. It was truly a much exciting experience compared to being in Singapore’s morning MRT. Oh well, we survived.
