DAY1 Sunday 19th April 2009 -Touching down onto Dalian, China

I never believed that I will be travelling to a country so far away from my family and friends. On the morning of 19th of April 2009, I left Singapore for Dalian, China. It is an Immersion Programme for us students from Singapore Polytechnic mainly from School of Design and School of Chemical Life Science to experience a different kind of environment to study in and this is Jamie here from School of Design, Interior Design.

I had mixed feelings when I stepped out of my house. Everything was happening so fast.

When I reached Changi Airport, it was so exciting as it’s the first time travelling to a cold climate country and travelling together with friends adds on the fun to everything.

This immersion programme would take about 8 weeks and so much so I will miss my family back at Singapore so much. After bidding goodbye and hugs to family, we took group photo together right in front of the departure hall and head off to Dalian.

There was so much excitement when we first touched down. However, Dalian welcomed us with heavy downpour and the coldness gave us frostbites. Along with that, we actually had quite a lot of fun playing with the ‘cold smoke’ coming out from our mouths. Representatives from Dalian Polytechnic University welcomed us and the students helped us with our luggage. Kudos to them as they were actually drenched in the rain.

Upon reaching the school, we were shocked to see how grand the lobby looks but there’s more to come. We were stunned, very stunned to see how luxurious our rooms are. It’s new and well-furnished. Jamie and Anglia, my roommate was so glad, happy and thankful for everything. We dried ourselves up, unpacked and jumped onto the cold bed. By then, it was already midnight 12 past 3.
